A Mothers Love

A Mothers Love-Here is a mother Humpback Whale with her newborn baby calf. These Humpback Whales migrate from Alaska to Hawaii every year to give birth. The shallow waters offer protection and act as a kiddie pool for the calves to grow until they migrate back to Alaska. On this day, I was with my family on our boat heading back to Ma'alaea Harbor when the huge mother whale breached right in front us several yards away. We immediately cut off the engines and both the mother and baby came right up to the boat! I had my waterproof housing for my camera so I leaned over the boat and stuck my camera in the water capturing these 2 beautiful creatures gracefully swimming by.
